In early October I had the opportunity to capture the Dukes family portraits for the second time this year. The first session was back in May when Kwesi and Krystal hired me to capture their Spring family portraits. Kwesi and I have known each other our high school days at Airport High School so that was my first time meeting his family. During their Spring session, I was able to get to know his beautiful family and I could tell immediately that the adolescents were very mature. As always, I allowed Hasani & Amya to have their time to show their personality during their individual images. Hasani’s choice was a few 'cool guy' poses and Amya decided on a few cheerleading split jumps. At the end of the session, Krystal let me know she also wanted me to capture their Fall portraits later in the year.
During our consultation in September, Krystal told me she wanted a wooded location so decided to meet at Saluda Shoals Park in Columbia, SC. This was our second time working together so we were familiar with each other which made this session a breeze. This time we included some singing, dancing and negotiating on Krystal’s part. Kwesi didn’t want anything to do with Krystal’s suggested pose. So, she said ‘either you can do the pose or you have to buy me some ducks’ Well let’s just said she received her ducks.
When we were wrapping up our session, I had a little something up my sleeve to help with the last shots. I gave the family directions on what I wanted from them but they had to wait for one quick second. I pulled up the song that Hasani & Amya recorded (listen to it here) and to see their faces light up was priceless. I had so much fun with this family and I can’t wait to work with them again.
