Dymond's Senior Session | Columbia, South Carolina

Whenever you graduate high school you will normally receive well wishes similar to “Congratulations on your graduation and best wishes for your next adventure!” The wishes may be forgotten but the memories are best achieved with a senior portrait. Graduating high school means you will either enroll in college, go into the military, or join the workforce.

Dymond is a 2020 graduate from Dutch Fork High School. She is a talented, beautiful young lady with a great personality. I've known her for several years since I’ve previously taken images of her parents. Back in February, I met with Dymond for her senior portrait session and it also happened to be the first senior I photographed since the fall of 2019. Her senior session took place right before the COVID-19 pandemic hit. We didn’t know that the world would have changed as it has at that time.

While at Dutch Fork High School Dymond participated in the DFHS Teacher Cadet program and the Newspaper Class. Outside of school, she was active at the Dance Dept. dance studio. She has been a dancer for more than half of her life and a great one at that. She’s danced for eight years at the Dance Dept. One great benefit to her dancing she was a participant in the Spirit of America Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York City in November 2019. She was able to practice and dance with dancers all across the country.

The session took place on a sunny 57-degree morning in Downtown Columbia, SC. We choose the area on Lincoln Street near the front entrance of the Colonial Life Arena because of the natural stone that’s in the area. Because of her dance background, the session flowed effortlessly. She also was able to show off a few of her dance moves during the session. The session was filled with humor, love from her family as they looked on , and the sparkle of Dymond’s smile.

In the fall she will attend North Carolina Central University and plans to major in Psychology. After she receives her degree, she intends to open her dance studio for children with disabilities. I know she has the talent to achieve her dream to go along with her good heart. I would like to wish Dymond much success in school and her post-undergraduate career.
