Tyzhir’s 13th birthday session at Camp North End
Turning 13 is a big deal because you are officially a teenager. It was a pleasure being able to capture Tyzhir’s 13th birthday images back at the end of November. I’ve known him and his family for several years so this was a breeze. At the time of the session, I was still living in Columbia, SC but since I have relocated to Charlotte, NC.
When his mother reached out to me about his session, I knew the perfect location for him. I felt that Camp North End was perfect since it has an urban vibe with the historic buildings, artwork, murals and more. This was my first time at Camp North End but I’ve researched the location enough to know it was perfect. Camp North End is a collection of several warehouse buildings located just north of Uptown Charlotte. In the 1920s, it was a Ford Motor company Assembly Plant campus. Then the US Army purchased it to make it a US Army Quartermaster Depot and later 2 other owners of the campus. In 2016, ATCO purchased the property and turned it into a community hub for creativity and innovation. I can’t wait to capture more sessions at Camp North End.
Tyzhir AKA “The High Top Baller” is from Maryland but now resides in Charlotte. He spends most of his free time playing AAU basketball. I am going to put it out there now that he will be a well known student-athlete in the Charlotte area by the time he finishes high school.
Tyzhir arrived decked out with an Armani Exchange sweatshirt, jeans, and some dope sneakers. He changed into a few different sweatshirts and his custom made “The High Top Baller” Army jacket. The most fun part of the session is when his little brother jumped in on some images and we had a mini dance session. I tell you one thing I’ve had a great session with Tyzhir who was all into the session which is not a norm for teenage boys.
